Hold on to your hats, because we are ready for liftoff, as the dynamic duo that makes up and coming band Satellite Citi is blasting off into the hemisphere with the release of their debut album, “Negative Space.”
Having formed back in 2015, Satellite Citi has really come out swinging with this new album, having put forth a marvelous display of energy and rawness. Having teamed up with producer Brad Wood (Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins) for this project, the new album provides a breath of fresh air in the rock scene.
Comprised of Shaunt Sulahian on guitar/backing vocals, and Anna Gevorkian on drums/vocals, the new album displays a short yet sweet remedy of songs that will make you feel as though you are in another dimension.
“The underlying theme in our music would be overcoming negative energy, hence the EP title, Negative Space. We want our music to encourage people to stand up when they’ve fallen,” said Geevorkian.
With a total of six songs on the album, each one is better than the next. With the heavy guitar tones of Sulahian mixed with the mellow, yet aggressive nature of Gevorkian’s vocals, there is not a bad song on the album.
Satellite Citi truly expands on their range as a band. While Sulahian and Gevorkian make up the core of the band, both marry beautifully in the easy listening melodic vocals that blend with a groovy funk type drum beat, behind a heavy guitar sound that is just “in your face” at all times throughout the album.
With songs that provide a heavy note such as “Pyramid,” and “Undead,” Satellite Citi provides a lighter side of the spectrum with songs such as “Slow Kill,” and “Collide.” Throughout the entire album, listeners can get a unique mix to their tracks which give a resemblance to the likes of other bands such as The White Stripes and Evanescence.
With plans for touring in the future for Satellite Citi, the band can currently be found around the Los Angeles music scene. With hopes of an expansion in their touring efforts, there’s no doubt that Satellite Citi is only on the way up in the industry. Great talent never goes unnoticed, and we certainly haven’t looked past this band, as they get started on their journey, where the sky is the limit to their success.
