Labor Day weekend is looking pretty sharp in the Colorful state of Colorado so far. This year marks the 25th annual JAS Aspen Snowmass Experience Festival, or Aspen Jazz Fest for short. The festival was able to organize acts such as Hozier, Fitz and the Tantrums, The Fray, Lenny Kravitz and the talk of the town being No Doubt…without a doubt. While the venue mainly hosted teenage girls and moms, Pepsi Center in downtown Denver was doing the same for Taylor Swift on her double header in Colorado this weekend…more on that later. Gwen Stefani brought brought along her white and sparkling stage performance to the sold out Aspen Audience, and for once a band NOT making legalized marijuana jokes. Most women in the audience might have also been fantasizing about getting a good look at Gavin Rossdale; oh you though……never mind I’ll tell you later.
No doubt began their set with some of their greatest hits such as “Hella good” (called it) “Its my life” “Underneath it all” and “Ex Girlfriend”. Stefani requests a moment of silence, only to admit “I just thought that would be funny”. Also commenting on her lack of oxygen intake, sarcastically stating how much she loves having less oxygen, it feels good, it makes things feel less real. But redeeming the Aspen air flow to the appreciation that the field that the venue is hosted in is the most beautiful sight that No Doubt has ever played. Sounds like JAS fest can give Red Rocks a run for its money. No Doubt continued their two hour set and including “Simple kind of life” “Magic’s in the makeup” and “Excuse me Mr.” acoustically with bongo drums in the mix, a cover of “Guns of Navarone” originally performed by The Skatalites, and finishing off with more familiar material “Just a girl” and “Spiderwebs”. No Doubt will be continuing their current run of the US to a special appearance at Riot Fest in Chicago with Billy Idol, System of a Down, Faith No More, Iggy Pop and tons more.
