The stars were out this past weekend, as there is a whole lot to celebrate for. Sunday night (March 11th) was the iHeartRadio Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. While there, some of the greats were honored with awards, as rightfully so, including the likes of Metallica, Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, and Foo Fighters.
These bands are amongst some of the greats to have ever written music, and it only makes sense that they would be shown the love and respect that they so deserve. This is especially the case for Metallica and Bon Jovi who have helped paved the way for many of the younger bands in today’s music age to be inspired and thrive in a less than thriving market.
During the award show, Metallica was honored the “Rock Artist of The Year” award, Bon Jovi was honored with the “iHeartRadio Icon Award” for their contribution to the music world for the past 35 years. Additionally, Linkin Park was honored with the “Rock Album Of The Year” (“One More Light”) and Foo Fighters for “Rock Song Of The Year” (“Run”).
“I want to thank the three and half decades of fans that have been listening to Bon Jovi songs,” Jon Bon Jovi said during his band’s acceptance speech. “We’ve been at this game a long time and the only advice I’ll tell this incredible generation of incredible talent is just stay true to who you are, and then they’re going to make you guys icons too someday.”
The train keeps on rolling, as both Metallica and Bon Jovi have announced a line of tour dates in the upcoming future, as well as Foo Fighters. Metallica has announced a new line of North American Tour Dates for 2018-2019 in support of their latest album, “Hardwied… To Self-Destruct. In addition, Bon Jovi will continue on with honors, as they are set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next month in Cleveland, OH.
