The long awaited Tool album may not be completely in the can yet, but singer Maynard James Keenan is ready to have this chapter of the Tool book completed, as he is calling out his fellow bandmates to finish their parts on the new album.
Not only is Keenan ready for the album to be completed, but of course the fans are as well. They’ve waited for over a decade to hear some new Tool music, and the continuous wait is not sitting well with the die hards.
“Eventually you wonderful people are going to run out of fucking patience. So I beg you, Danny [Carey, drums], Adam [Jones, guitar], and Justin [Chancellor, bass], please finish your parts so I can finish mine,” Keenan said during their show over the weekend at the Northern Invasion festival.
Keenan is begging for the rest of the band to finish, so that he can complete his vocals, hence putting an end to the treacherous wait and be done with the LP.
“Their writing process is so drawn out” said Keenan while on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast last year. “And I’m sure there’s a lot of reasons why the delay has been long. Their process is very analytical, and I think, at some point, maybe because so much time has gone by from the last album, there has to be a little bit of fear in here. [You think to yourself] ‘Is this record gonna be as good as the last one?’ The anticipation now is… Now the pressure is huge, so I’m sure there’s some of that [that] goes into play.”
