Marilyn Manson at the Fillmore

“They sure Love me in Colorado”

Those words were uttered by Marilyn Manson at the Fillmore Auditorium, referring his brief scape-goated beliefs by the parents of the Columbine community and his supposed influence on the massacre. It has been 14 years since the high school shooting cast yet another a dark shadow over Manson, but last night he was welcomed to a sold out show of his cult following. Manson’s entire set Wednesday night was ripe with outrageous comments and gimmicks. However, the most bizarre moment in his set was not planned at all like when he snot rocketed a booger for no apparent reason. “Well, hallelujah, Denver, it’s good to see you again. I never know how many times I’m gonna get shot here,” he said before launching into the song, no doubt referring to the media controversy surrounding him after the Columbine High School shootings. At several times throughout the performance, Marilyn Manson came across as a dismissive version of Burt Reynolds and as aggressive as Sean Connery on SNL Celebrity Jeopardy. Well, I laughed anyway. Never take it for granted though, Manson is no fool and he is surprisingly contrasted between a menace and smart as a whip.
