From that, fans have gathered to propose a day to honor one of heavy metal’s greatest bassist.
A petition has circulated on Monday to make February 10th “Cliff Burton Day” in Castro Valley, CA in honor of of Burton’s birthday. The petition as of today (January 24th) has already gathers over 2,000 signatures. Petition organizer Robert Souza asked the Castro Valley Municipal Advisory Council to back his effort.
“I think it’s a good idea as well. I would support it,” Mike Crawford, MAC Board Member, told KGO-TV.
The petition and idea of having the day to honor Cliff was well received by the board, having voted 7-0 in favor of it. The vote now moves the process along to members within the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, who will discuss the matter during their February 6th meeting.
