It’s one thing to grow up as a kid being inspired by The Beatles as so many people in the world were. It’s another thing to have an established relationship with a member of The Beatles. Nirvana and Foo Fighters legend Dave Grohl is in that phase of his life where both him and Paul McCartney have sparked a rather cozy relationship together. The two seem to be a unit together to the point where they gotten chummy enough together that McCartney is quite the loyal friend.
In an interview with the Herald Sun in Australia, Grohl commented on the time back in June 2015 when the guitarist and singer had broken his leg. During a nasty fall at a concert, Grohl got the worse end of the exchange, have to get medical attention, and forcing himself to perform with a boot on, much like Axl Rose.
Grohl explains in his interview that it was McCartney himself that came to the aid of him after the fact. He states that McCarney had set up his surgery, to ensure a swift recovery.
“[Paul McCartney] and his family basically set up my entire surgery in London after I broke my leg. It still blows my mind. I wouldn’t be playing music if it wasn’t for Paul McCartney because I learned how to play guitar with Beatles songbooks and playing along to Beatles records. But I also would not be walking right now if it was not for Paul McCartney. He knows some good f–king doctors.”
Now that’s a friend you want to have by your side, even if it is Paul McCartney. The Foo Fighters are gearing up for their next studio release, “Concrete and Gold,” which is slated to come out this Friday (September 15th). Surely with a tour to follow, one can only hope that Grohl won’t have to call on McCartney to set up another surgery on his behalf due to an incident on stage.
