Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has released a new solo song, “Brief Exchange”. Inspired by DC Comics’ graphic novel “Dark Days: Metal”, the track is collaboration with producer Mike Elizondo, Marilyn Manson collaborator Tyler Bates and ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Gil Sharone.
“Brief Exchange” marks the second in a series of tracks inspired by “Dark Days: Metal”, following last month’s “Red Death”, the first-ever solo track from Mastodon drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor.
Last fall, DC Entertainment announced a collaboration with Warner Bros. Records to produce a soundtrack featuring songs inspired by “Dark Nights: Metal”, the 2017 blockbuster comic book event reuniting the best-selling “Batman” talent team of writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo.
“As both a musician and fan of heavy metal music, having a soundtrack for ‘Dark Nights: Metal’ is pretty awesome,” said Capullo at the time. “I really like the concept of having hard-driving, heavy music as a complement to the incredible story that Scott and I are telling.”
