Black Label Society Kick Off Grimmest Hits In Denver

Guitarist Zakk Wylde may be the busiest rock star today. It seems as soon as as he finishes up one tour he immediately jumps on another. How does he have time for anything else yet release new material? He does it with ease and he opened his latest Black Label Society tour in Denver, Colorado on December 27, 2017.

After the mashup “Whole Lotta Sabbath” warmed up the crowd, the lights went black and Zakk and his BLS bandmates burst into “Genocide Junkies”, followed by “Bleed for Me” right into the epic “Funeral Bell”.  There is no secret to the talent of Zakk and it was again on display this evening. Surrounded by two walls of Marshall amps, Wylde belted out the songs from his skull decorated microphone often stepping up on the riser whipping his long hair around while playing blistering solos. Zakk has mentioned in the past the song “In This River” will never leave the BLS setlist as it is a reminder of the loss of his friend and fellow guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott who was killed during a performance way back in 2004. The fans agree and they cheered loudly as he sang the sorrowful lyrics of “In This River” as his fallen brother smiles looking down at him from heaven.

In support of this tour BLS is releasing a new album titled Grimmest Hits which will be available January 19, 208 via Entertainment (eOne). In was a treat for the fans to premier two new songs live towards the end of the night. “Room of Nightmares” and “All That Once Shined” sounded incredible and fit in nicely into the set of the other BLS staples.

The evening was a perfect. The Denver chapter of crazies got to experience some amazing metal delivered by father Zakk and BLS. And the band kick started which hopes to be another successful tour into 2018.
