Uproar Festival 2013: Alice In Chains, Jane’s Addiction & more

Another Uproar Festival in the books! This year I got there just in time to catch Walking Papers who have some dude named, Duff McKagan. I know right? WTF to that. They sounded pretty good, I was just baffled at the site of watching Duff play a side stage, he has not done that in how many years? Over yonder to Mainstage kicking off with Circa Survive; this is a band I have been wanting to catch for a very long time and I am glad I did because they kicked ass. Anthony Greene has a killer voice and wild stage antics while his band humbly performs some wild leads and riffs. They are a fun band to see and I am very much into their new album “Violent Waves” after that performance. Although I am still a sucker for “On Letting Go” Time for Coheed!……..and Cambria. Another band I love to see live, they are the supreme! They have always done some weird ass tours; this does not fall into the category though, this fits them just right. Playing many more tracks from their recent double album release, The Afterman Part 1 & 2. The concept of it is phenomenal. As a sci fi fan….good sci fi anyway, I love the concept behind C&C and all of their albums. Jane’s addiction takes the stage and they jump right into it with flashy red and blues, dancers and anything you’d expect from Jane. Perry Farrel kinda has a joker smile. Anyone ever notice that? Alice in Chains finally jumped on stage and took full advantage of the sold out crowd, waking up fans with LED screens up and down the stage and some funky lighting. It was not the Chains show that I was expecting and I am kinda wondering why they even headlined this tour, but at least two of the original members still performed. But they gave the audience enough to make for another successful Uproar show.
